Suzanne DeMarco
Visual Arts and Social Studies
Suzanne DeMarco is a visual arts educator at Flushing Town Hall and the author of Just Do Art 4 Kids. She has more than twenty years of teaching experience, having taught for organizations like Flushing Town Hall, the Guggenheim Museum, Material for the Arts, and ten years of service at Juan Cabrillo Elementary School in California. Suzanne has taught art in the general education classroom as well as for children with special educational needs, as well as the LGBTQ community. Her program incorporates in-depth visual arts education, aligning with social studies/history programs that follow NYC Blueprint Standards and Common Core State Standards for kindergarten through high school. Most recently Suzanne brought her program to Haiti, where she had the fortune to teach art to 350 non-English speaking children. Suzanne believes that the language of art transcends the spoken word. In the time of our “New Normal” with COVID-19, Suzanne has offered arts education programs virtually across the country, including a six-week professional development webinar series for teachers at the Fordham University graduate program.
